Pitbull Attack in Morocco Leaves Elderly Man Dead, Owner Arrested

A sexagenarian died after being attacked by a pitbull in the Essaada neighborhood of El Jadida. The dog’s owner, a "notorious delinquent", was arrested and taken into custody.
It all started with a dispute between the victim’s son and the pitbull’s owner. The latter, who "was in a hysterical state under the influence of psychotropic drugs, had, as usual, caused panic in the neighborhood on the evening of Saturday, July 20," reports Assabah. As the victim’s son tried to calm him down by asking him to lock up his dogs, he was attacked by the delinquent and bitten on the hand by the dog. Immediately afterwards, his father, a sexagenarian, came out of the house to try to end the dispute. But the situation escalated. A pitbull bit him in the leg before letting go after a long time. The pitbull’s owner was unable to control his three dogs.
Admitted to the clinic in El Jadida, the sexagenarian succumbed to his injuries. A medical team unsuccessfully tried to stop the acute hemorrhage, as the wound was too deep to be sutured. After the incident, the pitbull’s owner fled, but he didn’t go far. The El Jadida police services managed to locate him in the Mnadla douar. He was arrested, taken to the police station, and then placed in custody.
On Sunday, a team of 16 police officers, accompanied by an experienced dog trainer, raided the delinquent’s house. The dog handler climbed onto the roof of the suspect’s house and was able to capture the three bulldogs.
