Peugeot Recalls 208 Models Made in Morocco Due to Axle Defect Safety Risk

In France, a defect has been detected on some units of the best-selling Peugeot car in Europe assembled in Morocco, leading to a massive recall.
Peugeot 208 cars assembled in Morocco and sold in France between January 18 and March 14, 2023 are currently being recalled by the brand, according to Rappel-Conso.gouv.fr, specifying that the identification number of these vehicles is U e2*2007/46*0639*21-*23. The reason? The detection of a defect at the level of the axle that could crack and increase the risk of an accident. This information is confirmed by Rapex. According to this site, this defect prevents these cars from being homologated. In addition, the product is not compliant "with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, as well as of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles".
It is impossible to weld the rear wiper correctly. This impossibility can over time lead to the formation of cracks. There is therefore a risk that the rear axle will break and cause a reduction in handling, increasing the risk of an accident. Those who own these cars are invited to contact the dealer directly.
