Peugeot’s New Morocco Plant Set for Grand Opening This Week

Under construction for nearly two years, the Peugeot-Citroën (PSA) plant in Kenitra is expected to be officially inaugurated this week.
"Authorized" sources tell the site, le360, that the French manufacturer’s plant is to be officially inaugurated this Thursday, June 20, without however providing more details on the personalities who would be present at this ceremony.
On several occasions, the participation of King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron in this inauguration has been announced. A check of the French head of state’s agenda shows that a trip to Brussels is planned for that date.
The Kenitra plant is dedicated to small cars such as the latest generation Peugeot 208, with production of B and C segment vehicles, all built on the same platform. In total, the site is expected to produce "some 20,000 units in 2019, for a capacity of 90,000 vehicles per year", without losing sight of the fact that the target of 100,000 vehicles per year should be reached as early as next year.
Note that 90% of the production will be dedicated to export, mainly to African markets but also to the Middle East or Turkey.
