Peugeot-Citroën Workers in Morocco Protest Poor Conditions and Low Wages

The staff of the French Peugeot-Citröen Kenitra group had planned to demonstrate on Wednesday late in the day in front of the company’s headquarters. To prevent the situation from deteriorating, a large security device was deployed along the industrial zone.
Faced with the management’s policy, the hundreds of employees of the automaker needed to make their voices heard, due to the "inhuman working conditions imposed, unworthy wages and the lack of incentive measures".
Among the grievances listed in the letter addressed to Human Resources, the first is working time, in particular the work-shifts, overtime and unpaid weekends. In short, a difficult pace imposed by the constraints of productivity, in the absence of a suitable environment. To this are added an "unworthy remuneration", which the hierarchy would refuse to revalue, the lack of social benefits, compensation in the event of a work accident, and staff transport, to name but a few.
An amicable agreement, concluded on the same day between the staff and the management of the French group, made it possible to end the outburst. A meeting between the two parties is scheduled this Friday, January 29 at 10 a.m. at the headquarters.
