His Parents Made a Living from Honey in Morocco; He Made It His Life in Abu Dhabi
In Abu Dhabi’s old souk, Rachid Kharbouche has been selling honey and plants from Morocco for ten years. At 41, he still opens his shop with the same attachment to a product that occupied his parents throughout their lives.
Rachid Kharbouche set up shop in the World Trade Center souk in 2016. In a report published on September 22, Gulf News meets him among the shopkeepers who continue to open their stores in this market in the Emirati capital.

For him, the passion for honey comes from his parents. Both of them worked with this product throughout their lives. Rachid took this attachment with him when he left Morocco, before making it the heart of his business in Abu Dhabi.
“If your work comes from the heart, you will succeed”
“If your work comes from the heart, you will succeed,” he tells the Emirati daily. This, he says, is what drives him to open his shop every day. When you love your profession, he adds, the working hours pass almost without you noticing them.
His arrival in the Emirates did not distance Rachid Kharbouche from this family passion. On the contrary, he says that the welcome given to his products in Abu Dhabi strengthened his desire to sell Moroccan honey. He speaks of his activity as work carried out with love and also sees it as a link between his country of origin and the one where he has settled.

Ten years after opening his shop, Rachid Kharbouche still runs his counter in the old souk. The honey his parents taught him to love thus remains part of his daily life, thousands of kilometers from Morocco.
