It looks like honey": Spanish TikTokers taste the "super thick" olive oil from Morocco

Spanish olive oil is a global reference, but its Moroccan neighbor also arouses curiosity. On a trip to Morocco, Spanish content creators specialized in gastronomy shared their surprise in tasting the local olive oil, praising its texture and flavor.

Spain is the world’s leading producer and exporter of olive oil, but Morocco also has a strong tradition, where oil is a culinary treasure used in salads as well as couscous. Influencers Judith and Jaime, from the TikTok account "@comidaperronaa", shared their experience during a tasting organized in a Moroccan supermarket.

They were immediately struck by the appearance of the product, a nearly opaque green color. Dipping bread into it, one of the bloggers described its texture: "It looks super thick, it looks like honey". They were told on site that this aspect was due to the fact that the oil was "freshly pressed".

"Moroccan olive oil is super intense"

The taste confirmed this first impression. Judith’s travel companion, Jaime, commented that the product was "intense". "The color is incredible, it’s super intense," he added in the video.

Their visit to the supermarket revealed other surprises for the Spanish content creators. They noted the possibility of buying pasta and legumes in bulk, "by weight", as in a traditional market. They were also intrigued by products unknown in Spain, such as a Mentos-flavored drink, another "tropical" drink called Hawaii, and a local sweet called Tango.
