A beneficiary of the royal pardon granted by King Mohammed VI to 5,654 prisoners, an inmate at the Tangier prison took his relatives by surprise by taking his own life last Monday.
The young man, aged 28, killed himself by jumping from the top of a wall near the family home in the working-class neighborhood of Bendibane.
Sentenced to 5 years in prison, the victim, who had served 4 years of his sentence, had been authorized to leave the prison the previous Sunday evening for good behavior, reports the site Rue20.
The same site states that the day before, he had participated in an evening with friends where alcohol and psychotropic drugs were very present.
