Pan-African Parliament Praises Morocco's King for COVID-19 Initiative in Africa

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) welcomed, on Monday, April 20, the joint initiative proposed by King Mohammed VI to counter covid-19 on the African continent.

The PAP wishes to salute the King Mohammed VI for his initiative to share knowledge and technology with the rest of the continent, the pan-African legislative institution said in a statement.

The Pan-African Parliament has made it known that African countries, like other countries in the world, are mobilized in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic that is currently raging. Similarly, the Afro-deputies join the leaders of the African continent in their relentless efforts to cope with the pandemic, the PAP continued. These actions will allow Africa to share experiences and best practices in order to promote a unified health, economic and social impact.

On Monday, April 13, King Mohammed VI had telephone conversations, respectively, with Alassane Ouattara, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, and Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, according to a statement from the Royal Cabinet. These conversations had focused on the alarming evolution of the covid-19 pandemic on the African continent.

During these conversations, the sovereign proposed the launch of an initiative of African heads of state to establish an operational framework to support African countries in their various phases of pandemic management.
