Palestinian flags banned during the France - Israel match

Laurent Nunez, prefect of police in Paris, declared on Sunday, November 10 that Palestinian flags would be banned inside the Stade de France during the football match between France and Israel on Thursday, November 14. Only French and Israeli flags, as well as messages of support for the teams, will be allowed.
This decision is part of a tense context surrounding the match, with the political aspect, it is said, taking precedence over the sporting issue. Violent incidents involving Maccabi Tel-Aviv supporters in Amsterdam have reinforced the concerns.
To ensure security, a large force of 4,000 people, composed of police, gendarmes and mobile units, will be deployed, particularly in public transportation.
Laurent Nunez justified the ban on Palestinian flags by recalling that "there can be no political message in the stadiums, it is the law", specifying that he is working "in close collaboration with the Israeli authorities" to secure this event.
