More than one million Moroccans from Europe have already crossed the strait between June 15 and July 25 as part of the Marhaba Operation. 60% of them transited through the port of Algeciras.

According to data provided by the Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Algeciras recorded the largest flow of MRE, with 60% of the traffic, followed by Almeria (17%) and Tarifa (12%). In Morocco, the port of Tanger Med welcomed 62% of the MRE.

The flow of MRE increased by 8% compared to the same period in 2019, reaching 937,532 people. The number of vehicles was set at 225,278, an increase of nearly 15%.

The Marhaba Operation started on June 15 and ends on September 15. Significant flows are expected this weekend where the end of the outward phase and the beginning of the return phase of the Operation coincide.
