Ouzoud Waterfalls: Morocco's Stunning Gem Among the World's Top 10

The Ouzoud natural site, a jewel of the Béni Mellal-Khénifra region, features prominently in an international selection of the planet’s most spectacular waterfalls. It is the only representative of North Africa on a list dominated by American and African giants.

It is a major recognition for the Kingdom’s natural heritage. Ouzoud Waterfalls have been included in the top 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world, a distinction that confirms the international appeal of this site located on the edge of the Atlas Mountains.

Recognized as Morocco’s highest waterfalls and those with the greatest flow, Ouzoud impresses with its unique configuration: the water crashes down from a height of 110 meters, bouncing across several tiers of red rock before reaching the lake below. Beyond the cinematic beauty of the landscape, the ranking highlights the experience offered to visitors, who can follow steep trails while coming across colonies of Barbary macaques accustomed to human presence, the DW network explains.

The achievement is particularly noteworthy, as the Moroccan site stands alongside natural monuments of global importance in this ranking. They include Victoria Falls (Zambia/Zimbabwe), considered the widest in the world, the famous Niagara Falls (USA/Canada), the vast Iguazú Falls (Brazil/Argentina), and Salto Ángel in Venezuela, which holds the height record at 979 meters.

Europe is also represented by the Rhine Falls in Switzerland, the Plitvice Lakes in Croatia, as well as Iceland’s Gullfoss and Seljalandsfoss. Ouzoud’s presence among these giants further strengthens its status as a must-visit destination for nature tourism in Morocco.
