Outrage in Morocco: Minor Rape Victim Jailed for Homosexuality Alongside Attacker

The prison sentence imposed by the court of first instance of the Court of Appeal of Ouarzazate on a minor victim for "homosexuality" has sparked a wave of outrage among Moroccan Internet users.
A surprising verdict. The court of first instance of the Court of Appeal of Ouarzazate sentenced the muezzin of one of the mosques in the commune of M’semrir in the province of Tinghir to 8 years in prison for homosexuality and rape of a minor (violence and threats for more than 3 years), reports H24info. The victim "A.A", a young minor boy, was also sentenced to 6 months in prison and a fine of 2,000 dirhams. Like the muezzin, he is also accused of homosexuality.
On the web, the conviction of the minor has sparked a wave of outrage. "How is it that a rape victim ends up behind bars too?" question Moroccan Internet users. For now, civil society activists have not yet reacted to this conviction.
In addition to the muezzin and the victim, two other people were sentenced to one year in prison. They are accused of having recorded a video of the victim and his rapist to blackmail the muezzin.
