Ouarzazate Aims to Boost Tourism by Leveraging Film Studios and Cultural Heritage

The province of Ouarzazate represents a famous tourist destination at the national and international level. This is what the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Air Transport and Social Economy, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, indicated on Tuesday.
In a statement to the press, following her visit to cinematographic institutions and the Ouarzazate craft complex, the minister indicated that the city has diverse potentials related to its natural spaces, its cultural heritage, especially its Ksours, Kasbahs, craft trades and its film industry, namely that the city is home to the great film studio of Morocco, she added, emphasizing the convergence between cinema and tourism. "This is why we are working with the Ministry of Culture for a collective mobilization aimed at better promoting the potentials - of Ouarzazate - in the cinematographic field," she affirmed.
Fettah Alaoui also stressed the efforts made by many partners and departments, in order to give visibility to the cultural heritage of the oases, Ksours and Kasbahs, specifying the joint action provided with the aim of creating tourist circuits around the heritage and for their promotion at the national and international levels. She also welcomed the efforts made by the local authorities in order to overcome the health crisis and its negative effects on tourism and crafts, and to establish soon a mass tourist activity.
For the record, the Minister of Tourism recently visited the Kasbah of Taourirt, in the presence of the Wali of the Drâa-Tafilalet region, Governor of the province of Errachidia, Yahdih Bouchaab, the Governor of the province of Ouarzazate, Abderrazak Mansouri, and several local officials. She visited the Ouarzazate craft complex where several active cooperatives in various trades are located. She also visited the city’s film museum, which exhibits works of art and sets used during the filming of several international film productions, and one of the film studios.
