Morocco Unveils Plan to Reinvent Tourism Sector Post-Pandemic

Tourism Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui invited Thursday investors to work for the revival of the tourism sector and to build a more sustainable tourism industry after the health crisis.
"This crisis is an opportunity to rethink in a creative way how to welcome tourists. We must seize the competitive and enormous tourism potential that Morocco has in order to reinvent and create new tourism offerings throughout the regions of the Kingdom," said Minister Nadia Fettah on the occasion of the Africa Hotel Investment Forum 2021, held online on Thursday.
For the minister, the revival of the tourism industry is "a guarantee of the sustainability of the sector," adding that the most active investors in this dynamic will be able to seize the best opportunities. Nadia Fettah also recalled the aid granted by the government to employees and companies in the sector, hard hit by the health crisis, before saluting the efforts of the Executive in the fight against the pandemic. "We are carrying out a very large vaccination strategy and overall, the pandemic indicators are encouraging for a return to normal life," she added, optimistically.
The meeting aims to discuss tourism investment prospects, particularly in the southern region of Morocco, said Imad Barrakad, the general manager of the Moroccan Tourism Engineering Company (SMIT), who invited investors to work to make the tourism sector "a real pillar of the Moroccan economy." "I think there are still great tourism investment opportunities to come in the Kingdom. It’s time to discuss the future and the prospect of reinvesting in the tourism sector," he said.
