Morocco Aims to Attract International Filmmakers to Boost Tourism Industry

Pending the reopening of air borders for the return of tourists to Morocco, the Moroccan National Tourist Office has signed a partnership agreement with the Moroccan Film Center for Tourism (CCM) to promote the Moroccan destination to international film and audiovisual producers.
Since 1919, Morocco has been hosting film productions due to its fairy-tale landscape. These shootings play an important role in the promotion of the Moroccan destination internationally. They contribute to local activity, particularly in the cinema, hotel, catering, car rental, crafts and air sectors. Nearly 100 million DH are released annually by the Moroccan Film Center (CCM) to support these foreign productions.
In detail, this agreement concluded between the two structures and three other ministries aims to develop new strategies and especially to boost the attractiveness of the destination to host more foreign productions in Morocco. To this end, a digital platform has been created to present the assets of Morocco as a destination for film and audiovisual production and to inform, advise and guide the target companies with the necessary information to submit their applications.
