The ordeal of Ilham, Miss Morocco 2017: "My skin was torn off

Ilham Khallad, Miss Morocco 2017, continues her legal battle six years after a cryotherapy session that shattered her career. Severely burned on her stomach, the former model denounces the negligence of her practitioner in Toulouse.

The incident occurred as the young woman was preparing for the Miss Afrique Midi-Pyrénées competition. On the advice of her physiotherapist, she had agreed to a cryolipolysis treatment intended to eliminate fat through cold. While the first appointment went smoothly, the second turned into a nightmare after just twenty minutes, despite the patient’s alerts being ignored by the professional.

At the end of the session, the Toulousaine discovered with horror that her skin had been literally torn off by the thermal effect of the machine, she confides to La Dépêche du Midi. Despite the application of creams recommended by the physiotherapist, her condition quickly deteriorated, leading to a fainting spell and an emergency hospitalization a week later. The serious burns were then officially noted by the hospital doctors.

This drama abruptly halted the professional ascent of the former model, whose contracts were terminated by her agency at the very moment her career was becoming international. Today, she deplores the total suspension of her projects for three years and deep psychological suffering, seeing her modeling dreams shattered by an aesthetic intervention that was supposed to be routine.

On the legal front, the procedure has been bogged down for six years. The practitioner refuses to acknowledge his responsibility, while administrative complications related to his previous lawyer have so far prevented the appointment of a court-appointed expert. Now, Ilham is demanding that her suffering be recognized by the court in order to obtain compensation for the damage suffered.
