Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais Runner-Up Reflects on Close Miss France Contest

At just 18 years old, Sabah Aïb, Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais, came close to the Miss France crown. It was ultimately the candidate from Martinique, Angélique, who won the title on Saturday evening in Poitiers. Back in the North, the young woman of Moroccan origin looks back on this experience and talks about her projects.
Despite the disappointment of having come so close to victory, Sabah Aïb says she is "very proud" of her journey. "I didn’t think I would get that far," she confides in an interview with La Voix du Nord. "Obviously, I was aiming for the crown, but Angélique really deserved it."
While she acknowledges that the competition was tight, the young woman believes that general knowledge may have made the difference. "I was ahead in the public vote, including in the overseas departments and territories," she specifies. "But the choice of the jury members was made on other criteria, I accept it."
Sabah Aïb returned to the strong choice of having recalled her Maghrebi origins during the ceremony. "It was necessary for me to say it, even if it didn’t go over well," she affirms. "I didn’t want to hide it. It was close to my heart." A choice that was clearly rewarded as the public voted for her.
Regarding the racist attacks she has been the victim of on social media, the young woman is philosophical. "There are always a few insults, but it has become marginal compared to all the kind comments I receive."
When asked about the abandonment of the Miss contest in the Netherlands, Sabah Aïb expressed her regrets. "I find it a shame because the Miss contests are above all beauty contests," she emphasizes. "They make a lot of people dream."
After this Miss France adventure, Sabah Aïb intends to resume the course of her life. Return to Lille, studies and modeling. She will also participate in events in the region to promote the 2025 Miss elections.
Finally, Sabah Aïb said she was ready to replace Angélique at Miss World if the latter were to give up her title. "You never know," she concludes.
