Olympic Champion El Bakkali Named Morocco’s Top Athlete of 2021

Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali and taekwondo athlete Soukaina Sahib were named best Moroccan athletes of the year 2021, in a poll conducted by the national radio sports service.
After an exceptional 2021 season where he won the 3,000m steeplechase final at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Soufiane El Bakkali scored 96 points in this poll. He will be followed by karateka Abdelali Gina (-60 kg), author of a good performance at the Karate Championship, reports SRNT News.
On the women’s side, it is the taekwondo athlete Soukaina Sahib (-46 kg) who ranked first with 79 points, thanks to her performance at the World Championship and the African Championship held in Senegal.
