Northern Morocco Sees Tourism Surge as Domestic Visitors Flock to Coastal Resorts

Northern Morocco remains a destination of choice for domestic tourists this summer season. Good news for hoteliers, café owners and restaurateurs in the region who hope this momentum will continue until the end of summer.
With its natural landscapes and multiple tourist attractions, northern Morocco has been chosen by several Moroccan families to spend their summer holidays. This enthusiasm for the northern coastal destinations despite the high cost of stay delights hoteliers, café owners, restaurateurs and tourism professionals in the region who hope the situation will not change until the end of summer.
Since early August, the tourist accommodation establishments in the main seaside resorts of the region are fully booked, which will allow them to regain financial health after two years of the Covid-19 health crisis. This influx of tourists in the North is the result of the promotion operations carried out by the Regional Council of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (CRT-TTA), with the support of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), in order to stimulate the recovery of tourism.
These charm operations have helped to highlight the tourism potential of the northern coastal areas, which contribute significantly to the tourism revenues of the region and even the kingdom. It is thanks to these actions that the beaches of Al Hoceima have been stormed by tourists, well before the Eid al-Adha holiday. Chefchaouen has also attracted domestic tourists and Moroccans living abroad with its beautiful wild beaches, including Stehat, and its mythical mountain and seaside landscapes.
The main seaside towns of the North have benefited from major tourist reception infrastructure projects to strengthen the attractiveness of the region. This is the case of Tanja Marina Bay in Tangier. Other cities like Tetouan and Al Hoceima will also benefit from major reception infrastructure projects, namely: the "integrated program for the economic and urban development of Tetouan" and "Al Hoceima, Manarat Al Moutawassit".
