Magnitude 4.0 Earthquake Strikes Northern Morocco’s Mediterranean Coast

Northern Morocco was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 4 on the Richter scale on Friday, March 15 in the early evening.
The epicenter of the tremor, felt in several localities in the region, including Al Hoceima, Nador and Driouch, was located in the Mediterranean about 29 km north of Al Hoceima, according to the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
Occurring at a depth of 16.2 km, the tremor did not cause any casualties or significant material damage, according to several local sources.
Morocco is located in an active seismic zone and has already been hit by several deadly earthquakes in recent years.
