North African Unity: Moroccans Rally Behind Algeria in CAN 2019 Final

Despite the humiliating defeat of Morocco against Benin in the round of 16, Moroccans have not lost their smile. For the grand final of the biggest sports competition on the continent, which is being played in Egypt and will oppose Algeria to Senegal, their choice is made. They are betting on the victory of the "Fennecs", reports the Challenge.

"I am Moroccan, so I am Algerian". This sentence, written on a banner displayed in a cafe in the city of Fez, testifies to Morocco’s frank support for Algeria. Even if the two countries still do not maintain good neighborly relations, football brings hearts closer.

"Football gives us a new lesson every time. The most wonderful humanitarian relationship between the Moroccan and Algerian peoples goes beyond the narrow calculations of politicians," wrote Moroccan sports analyst Jamal Astaifi on his Facebook account, to describe this same effervescence, perceptible at the level of the two peoples.
