Nigerian Rapper Zlatan Ibile Brings a Moroccan Wedding Tradition to Marrakech
Carried on amariyas amid their guests, Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile and his partner Davita Lamai added a Moroccan touch to their wedding celebrations in Marrakech. Several celebrities, including singer Davido and his wife Chioma, made the trip.

The couple chose the ochre city to celebrate their union on Wednesday, November 4, following a traditional wedding held on October 24 in Lagos, Nigeria. At their welcome party, the newlyweds surprised guests by making separate entrances on amariyas, decorated platforms used in Moroccan wedding ceremonies.
Images shared on social media and picked up by TheCable show Zlatan Ibile, dressed in an elaborately embellished outfit, being carried by several men before they lifted him onto their shoulders. Davita Lamai made a similar entrance, watched by guests gathered for the celebrations.
Those in attendance included Davido, one of Africa’s biggest music stars, and his wife, Chioma Adeleke. Their arrival in Marrakech also drew attention. According to Nigerian news agency NAN, cited by Peoples Gazette, several figures from Nigeria’s entertainment industry joined the celebrations, including Carter Efe and producer Soso Soberekon.
Zlatan Ibile, whose real name is Omoniyi Raphael, rose to fame with his 2018 hit “Zanku (Leg Work).” The rapper and Davita Lamai, who have been together for several years and have two sons, announced their wedding in October in a video featuring one of their children.
Marrakech is continuing to attract Nigerian celebrities. In 2017, former Miss World Agbani Darego had already chosen the city for her wedding. In 2022, billionaire Jim Ovia’s daughter also celebrated her wedding there, attended by several prominent figures and businesspeople.
