Sammy Mahdi and Nawal Farih got married in Marrakech

Sammy Mahdi, president of the CD&V, and Nawal Farih, CD&V federal deputy, both aged 36, have tied the knot in Marrakech. A dream wedding celebrated in the presence of family and friends.

After the civil wedding last April in Brussels, the young couple chose the city of Marrakech in Morocco to celebrate their union. "A destination wedding, surrounded by the people we cherish, is pure magic," writes Sammy Mahdi on Instagram. In a social media post, the two lovebirds say their wedding in the ochre city, worthy of a fairy tale, is for them "an explosion of love, warmth and joy".

The choice of Morocco is no coincidence. It is Nawal Farih’s country of origin. "Our wedding in Marrakech will be etched in our hearts forever. We are grateful to be surrounded by so many beautiful souls. Grateful to the mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters who carry our nest of love. And above all, grateful for the love we share," the lovebirds added in their message.

Sammy Mahdi and Nawal Farih met in 2019, on the eve of that year’s elections. But it was in 2023 that the couple formalized their relationship. "The most beautiful and stable form of love is born from a deep and sincere friendship. And that is always the case between us. She is my best friend. And that’s what makes her the best partner I can imagine. We often talk about a soulmate... There is none greater for me than Nawal," Sammy said, a guest on the "De mens achter de politiek" podcast.
