Morocco Emerges as Top Destination for French Couples Seeking Affordable, Exotic Weddings

More advantageous costs than in France, exceptional setting... Morocco attracts many French couples wishing to get married. TF1 dedicated a report on the wedding sector in Morocco and cites the example of Alexia and Thomas. This French couple got married in the Agafay desert, near Marrakech. For two days, the couple celebrated their wedding in the middle of the desert, an hour from Marrakech, with about fifty guests. At the helm, Kettly Vilsaint, director of an event agency, who has been offering turnkey weddings in Morocco for over 10 years.

"The idea is to have the ’wow’ effect right away. People arrive in white attire, we want to make them disconnect from the plane and France immediately," she explains. The young couple spends 40,000 euros for a package including musical entertainment, a Gnaoua troupe, an oriental dancer, food, and two nights in a five-star hotel for their fifty guests. The catering costs them about 3,500 euros. The entire budget is not huge, because this type of service would cost, according to Kettly Vilsaint, twice as much in France.

In Morocco, event agencies offering this type of service are well-established. The wedding market represents, for example, 80% of the turnover of Blandine Robelin’s company, a French national. Her company provides all the necessary accessories for organizing weddings. "The wedding sector is doing very well. Today, we have more or less three requests per week for schedules going up to 2027," she explains. Her company employs about ten full-time employees and has a warehouse to store its equipment.
