Nigerian Players $1,220 Missing Casablanca Hotel Scandal

The incident was reportedly discovered after the players returned to their rooms at the Marriott in Casablanca, where the Super Falcons are preparing for their opening match at the 2026 Africa Cup of Nations Women’s tournament.

According to Soccernet.ng, five Nigerian internationals claim to have lost cash. Esther Okoronkwo appears to be the most affected with 700 dollars missing, while captain Rasheedat Ajibade reports a loss of 200 dollars.

Five players say they lost money

Defender Osinachi Ohale and midfielder Halimatu Ayinde each reportedly discovered the disappearance of 100 dollars. Joy Omewa claims to have lost 120 dollars. The total amount thus reaches 1,220 dollars.

Esther Okoronkwo publicly confirmed the incident on Snapchat and complained about the attitude of those confronted about the missing money. The players would suspect certain members of the cleaning service, without any investigation or physical evidence having been made public.

Neither the Nigerian Football Federation nor the hotel had issued an official statement at the time these accusations were published. It is also unclear whether a complaint has been filed with Moroccan authorities.
