Nice Father Cleared of Rape Charges Fights to Reconnect With Sons in Morocco

Stéphane Zorzit, a resident of Le Cannet, spent nine months in pretrial detention in Grasse in 2019 over allegations of rape and acts of barbarity. A dismissal was ultimately issued after child psychiatry assessments concluded that there had been no abuse whatsoever against his three sons, reports Actu Nice.

Despite this legal rehabilitation, the man no longer has any contact with his sons, who are now aged 13 to 16. His ex-wife left France at the end of 2024 to settle in Rabat. She refuses to comply with family court decisions ordering a monthly meeting between the father and his children.

The father says he is now resigned but determined to fight for the truth. His sons reportedly remain convinced of his guilt, influenced by their mother’s account. “My children hate me,” he confides, explaining that the teenagers spent five years building an image of him as a “torturer.”

Legally, the situation has reached an impasse. Despite seven complaints for failure to hand over children, French authorities admit they are powerless in the face of this exile. His lawyer, Me Sophie Reaubodingo, points out that it is impossible to conduct an effective investigation from France when the minors live abroad.

Stéphane Zorzit now hopes that a healthcare or justice professional will one day be able to explain the truth to his sons in Morocco. For him, restoring his honor in their eyes has become more important than simply exercising visitation rights, as he fears that the silence could become permanent.
