Viols on minors by Jacques Leveugle: a call for witnesses launched, facts acknowledged in Morocco
The French justice system launched on Tuesday a call for witnesses concerning Jacques Leveugle, 79 years old, indicted for rapes on 89 minors. The man, incarcerated, has acknowledged having committed assaults during his stays in Morocco and several other countries.
The prosecution has lifted the anonymity on this exceptional case involving a septuagenarian accused of aggravated rapes and sexual assaults committed between 1967 and 2022. The investigation has revealed that the accused would have acted in nine different countries, including Morocco, Algeria and Niger, where he held positions as a teacher or educational support. It was in this educational framework that he would have targeted his victims, mainly adolescents aged 13 to 17, taking advantage of his position of authority to obtain "sexual relations".

The case came to light following the discovery by the suspect’s nephew of a USB key containing fifteen volumes of "memoirs". In these writings of exceptional density, Jacques Leveugle has meticulously recorded his predatory journey around the world. Faced with the difficulty of identifying victims over a period of fifty-five years and encountering a "wall" in the investigations, the authorities considered it essential to disseminate his portrait to allow potential victims, particularly in Morocco, to come forward.

A toll-free number (0-800-20-01-42 - France) has been activated to collect any useful testimony. The prosecutor stressed that "this name must be known" to break the silence surrounding these acts, while the suspect is currently in pre-trial detention since April 2025 after violating his judicial supervision. The investigators hope that this media coverage will make it possible to identify the young people mentioned in the digital archives of the defendant.
