Nador Port Gold Seizure: MRE Arrested with 13.5 kg Hidden in Car
Moroccan police services intercepted an attempted precious-metal trafficking operation on Saturday at the Beni Ansar port (Nador). A search of a vehicle arriving from Europe led to the seizure of more than 13 kilograms of gold bars.
A joint operation by the National Security and Customs authorities thwarted the illicit transfer. During a routine border inspection, officers discovered a total of 13.506 kilograms of gold, carefully concealed inside a car bearing foreign license plates.

The intervention took place immediately after the vehicle disembarked from a ferry arriving from a European port. The driver, a Moroccan residing abroad (MRE), was arrested on the spot by police officers after the undeclared cargo was discovered.

The suspect was handed over to the judicial authorities for the investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Investigations are now continuing to determine the circumstances and implications of the case and identify any national or international links within this smuggling network.
