As part of the same drive, another Moroccan coach was approached to take on the role of sporting director responsible for overseeing all Syrian national teams. The offer was also rejected by the coach, who made clear that he preferred to devote himself exclusively to managing a senior team.

This double refusal comes during a crucial preparation period for young Syrian players. The under-20 team is set to compete in the West Asian Championship, a tournament bringing together 11 nations that will take place in Kuwait from 23 March to 2 April.
