2022 U17 World Cup: Nabil Baha promises a "better performance" from Morocco for the must-win match
After two consecutive defeats against Japan and Portugal, the Moroccan U17 national team is playing for its future in the World Cup in Qatar. With their backs against the wall, the Atlas Cubs must absolutely win this Sunday against New Caledonia to hope for qualification among the best third-placed teams, and coach Nabil Baha has expressed his determination.
Speaking at a press conference in Doha, the coach assured that his group was ready to react after the first two defeats. "The team will show a better face. We will do everything to win and honor the Moroccan jersey," he said. Aware of the prevailing disappointment, Nabil Baha insisted on the psychological aspect of the preparation: "We need to talk to the players with confidence and optimism. [...] Our message is clear: believe in our chances and go for this victory."
A opponent that requires patience
Nabil Baha expects a tactical match against a New Caledonia team that should logically adopt a defensive block. He warned that haste would be the main enemy of his team. "This kind of match requires patience and clarity. Success will not be played in the first few minutes, but over the long term," he analyzed, promising that his players would keep "the same energy until the final whistle."
The Moroccan coach was also questioned about his player choices. He stressed the importance of competition and collective spirit, much more than individual qualities. "I give a chance to those who deserve it. What matters to me is not who starts the match, but the way we play as a team to go for the result," he concluded.
Morocco will face New Caledonia this Sunday, November 9 at 2:30 pm (Moroccan time) on the pitch of the Aspire Academy.
