Muslim Leaders Call for Increased Mosque Security After Criminal Acts in France

Friday 14 August 2020, by Ginette

The CFCM "strongly denounced and condemned" this criminal act, and expressed its "full support and solidarity" with the worshippers and the leaders of the mosque. Mohamed Moussaoui, the president of the CFCM, calls on mosque leaders to contact the prefectural security contacts to secure their premises.

In a statement, the Council indicated that "the annual budget set aside by the State for the security of Muslim places of worship has not been exhausted" and that they have the possibility to make requests for the security of their mosques and worshippers.

As for the French Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, he condemned "stupid and hateful acts". This is the second time in one week that a fire has been started in a mosque. An investigation has been opened for "intentional fire damage". The criminal trail is favored.
