Musée Grévin: the statue of King Mohammed VI targeted by an action

The action took place around 11 a.m. in the museum’s galleries, reports Le Parisien. The activist dressed the statue of the Moroccan sovereign in a national football team jersey with the message "FREE BETTY LACHGAR" printed on it. She also wrote the slogan "FREE BETTY" on the walls of the museum before being evacuated by the security service. Yves Delhommeau, the general director of the Grévin museum, deplored this intervention, regretting that the establishment was used as a platform for political demands.

Ibtissame Lachgar, 50 years old, is currently serving a 30-month prison sentence, accompanied by a fine of 5,000 euros. Her conviction, confirmed on appeal in October 2025, followed the publication of a photo on social networks where she wore a t-shirt associating the word "Allah" with a term deemed offensive by the Moroccan justice system. The text accompanying the image also criticized Islam. The SCUM collective warns about the medical urgency of her situation: in remission from cancer, the activist would be deprived of appropriate care in detention and could face serious physical complications.
