Motril Al Hoceima Ferry Cancellations Anger Moroccan Families

The Motril-Al Hoceima line was supposed to facilitate the return home of many Moroccans residing abroad. Instead, it has become a source of concern. The ASSORIF association, which defends the interests of Moroccans abroad, particularly those from the Rif, denounces the repeated cancellations of crossings operated by the Armas company.

According to the association, all trips scheduled between July 7 and 13 were cancelled. ASSORIF also regrets the lack of guarantees for the following days, leaving travelers in uncertainty while the summer season is in full swing.

The situation directly affects families who had prepared their stay in Morocco for several months. Many had already purchased their tickets, booked their accommodation and organized their family reunions in Al Hoceima or the surrounding areas.

These cancellations also result in additional costs. Affected travelers must turn to other ports or alternative routes, with longer journeys, more driving and unexpected expenses.

A line eagerly awaited by Rif families

For ASSORIF, the problem is all the more difficult to accept because this maritime link only operates during the summer period. This is precisely when demand is strongest, particularly among Moroccans abroad who wish to reach the Al Hoceima region directly without going through more distant ports.

The association believes that the Motril-Al Hoceima line represents much more than a simple seasonal service. It constitutes a direct link between the Rif and its children settled abroad, particularly in Spain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
