The "most viral harraga" recounts her return to Morocco: "Don’t risk your life

After a year spent in Spain, notably in Barcelona, she has chosen to return and now provides a poignant testimony to dissuade candidates for illegal immigration, insisting on the deadly dangers of the sea and the hardship of life without papers.

In an interview with Lalla Moulati, the one the media had nicknamed the "most viral harraga" explains that her return is a personal and thoughtful choice, motivated mainly by her attachment to her family. "I had a future ahead of me and a family behind me, and I was in a situation where I could neither continue nor stay as I was," she confides. She recounts having surrendered herself to the authorities at the Ceuta border, before undergoing legal procedures of three days on the Moroccan side, including detention and a presentation to the Tetouan court.

"Life abroad is hard and expensive"

Chaimae describes a European reality far from the idealized dream. Without papers in Barcelona, she faced immense difficulties, working only two months in a year and surviving thanks to social networks. "Without papers, everything is difficult and for anything, they ask you for something in return," she laments, adding that she preferred to return to preserve her dignity and principles rather than risk ending up "on the wrong path" like many others.

She especially wants to issue a clear warning to young people: "Don’t risk your life or throw yourself into the sea. The sea is very dangerous." She regrets that her viral video could have been interpreted as an incitement, assuring that it only showed her pride in having survived. Today, although marked by rumors, she says she is relieved to be with her loved ones and now wishes to settle in Morocco.
