Morocco’s World Cup Heroes Aim for Africa Cup Glory in Opener Against Tanzania

Morocco - semi-finalist of the last World Cup - will take the field on Wednesday at the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) taking place in Côte d’Ivoire against Tanzania. Romain Saïss, captain of the Atlas Lions, makes a promise to the Moroccans.
Semi-finalist of the last World Cup, Morocco is the team that all the other 23 participants in CAN 2024 are looking to beat. The challenge to be met is therefore immense, and the captain of the Atlas Lions is well aware of this. "We know today that we are highly anticipated, especially after the last World Cup. I don’t think it adds pressure, but we know we have responsibilities towards the Moroccans, because they have expectations today. It’s up to us to do what’s needed on the pitch to make this people proud, as we did at the World Cup," stressed Romain Saïss in an interview with the media cell of the FRMF.
The former Angevin is pleased with the team cohesion. An asset that should allow his teammates and him to go far in the competition. "Overall, there is a good atmosphere, everyone is serious and we get along well, we are very happy to be together again. We take pleasure in being together and working on the pitch. It’s even easier to give your all for your brother on the pitch, because I think today we are a family
