Morocco: A wedding turns into a nightmare in Berrechid

A terrible road accident occurred on Sunday evening in the province of Berrechid, Morocco, leaving six dead and 18 injured. The provisional toll is heavy and unfortunately reminds us of the danger of Moroccan roads.
According to witnesses cited by Hespress, a pick-up truck carrying 24 people from Berrechid to the commune of Laghnimyine overturned on a regional road. The passengers were returning from a wedding celebrated in Berrechid.
Two people died on the spot, while a child succumbed to her injuries during her transfer to the hospital. Three other victims then died at the hospital.
The competent public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
Excessive speed and the poor condition of the roads are often cited as the main causes of road accidents in Morocco.
