Morocco Unveils World Cup Heroes and New Faces for Upcoming Matches

The national coach, Walid Regragui, unveiled his first list of the Atlas Lions after their brilliant performance at the 2022 World Cup. The list of called-up players was highly anticipated by Moroccan supporters.
The national coach opted for stability by summoning most of the heroes of the last World Cup. We thus find the big names such as Yassine Bounou, Romain Saiss, Hakim Ziyech, Achraf Hakimi and Sofyan Amrabat.
Unfortunately, some absences are to be noted, such as that of Selim Amallah, injured, and those of Badr Benoun and Ilias Chair. But Coach Walid also had some surprises, summoning little-known players to the general public such as Ibrahim Salah, Yassine Kechta, Benjamin Bouchouari, Chadi Riad, Abdel Abqar and Ayoub Amraoui. The most attentive will note the absence of Brahim Diaz, who has probably leaned towards Spain, or the Mmaee brothers.
The national coach has thus opted for a wise mix of experience and youth, to best prepare for the challenges to come. Morocco will indeed have to face great challenges in the coming months, notably with the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations and the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
