Morocco Unveils Travel Incentives to Boost Domestic Tourism Industry

The Minister of Tourism, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, indicated on Monday in Rabat that her department is working, in coordination with its partners, to put in place special checks to reduce travel costs. The aim is to encourage domestic tourism.
The ministry is trying by all means to revitalize the sector, through the development of a series of measures including promotional campaigns in all regions of the Kingdom, in order to boost demand, said the minister who was responding to an oral question on "domestic tourism", presented by the authenticity and modernity group in the House of Representatives.
Nadia Fettah Aloui also stressed that her ministry is working closely with industry professionals to find strategies capable of encouraging Moroccans to discover more of their country’s regions. But unfortunately with the current health crisis, travel within cities is subject to restrictions, which has slowed down domestic and international tourist visits.
For the minister, orienting the sector’s recovery strategies towards domestic tourism is a way to contain the losses suffered by the sector. Fortunately, she says, with the resumption of domestic flights last June, Royal Air Maroc and Air Arabia airlines operate 78 domestic flights distributed over 20 air routes.
