Morocco Unveils Major Industrial and Tech Projects for 2021, Including Tanger Tech City

The realization of several industrial, commercial, technological and R&D infrastructures is planned in the 2021 action plan of the Ministry of Industry. These infrastructures mainly take into account the city of Mohammed VI Tanger Tech, Fès-Meknès and Ksar Bjir.
According to Aujourd’hui Le Maroc, the officials have announced the Ksar Bjir economic activity zone, on a total area of 20.5 ha. Another essential project will be carried out in the city of Mohammed VI Tanger Tech, on a total area of 100 ha. In addition, the Casa-Settat industrial acceleration zone, on an area of 300 ha. The Fès-Meknès region, for its part, will have its own industrial acceleration zone on an area of 500 ha, specifies the daily.
Regarding industrial infrastructure by 2028, the government has established the creation of 10 new industrial acceleration zones dedicated to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and exports, or an additional 1,000 ha. For general industrial zones, "the authorities announce 12 new zones, as well as the expansion of 11 others already existing, or 1,400 ha. Regarding targeted upgrading, the same sources mention the redevelopment of 68 zones, including 31 priority ones, for a total estimated area between 3,500 and 6,300 ha," concludes the daily.
