Morocco Unveils COVID-19 Safety Measures for Eid Al Adha Celebrations

The celebration of Aid Al Adha this year has a very particular character, due to the coronavirus pandemic. In this regard, appropriate health measures are being taken to ensure better celebration conditions for Moroccans.

These new preventive measures are in addition to the usual health monitoring measures for animals and hygiene conditions. According to a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, they will be applied throughout the chain from the sale of animals to the day of sacrifice.

Thus, actions have been taken, namely the publication of a guide to the preventive health measures of covid-19 to be respected on the day of Eid, in particular by butchers. This is in addition to the organizational measures to be introduced in the livestock markets intended for Aid Al Adha and the installation of additional temporary markets.

In addition, control measures will be strengthened, in particular at the level of the transport of animals throughout the territory as well as the extension of health measures to the temporary trades that develop around the Aid Al Adha event to preserve these jobs, specifies the same document.

As for the competent services of the two ministries, they are mobilizing to continue the preparation in order to ensure the implementation of the required measures. They will also be able to ensure compliance with the conditions allowing the proper conduct of the Eid al-Adha festival in the context of covid-19 and this in close coordination with the departments, establishments, municipalities and professional organizations concerned.
