Morocco Unveils $60 Billion Infrastructure Plan to Boost Economic Growth

With the prospect of launching new major projects, it is planned to set up an "investment commission on infrastructure" that will be attached to the head of government.
During a recent conference-debate organized in Casablanca by the British Chamber of Commerce on the theme, "the development of infrastructure for a better economy", the kingdom reaffirmed its ambition to continue in the same dynamic of major works, in order to accelerate its development, reports Aujourd’hui le Maroc.
The main lines of this meeting with, among other projects, the Ports of Dakhla-Atlantique and Kénitra-Atlantique, the extension of the LGV line between Marrakech and Agadir, the development of conventional rail and new highways.
According to the officials of the administration, these projects "will require an envelope of 600 billion dirhams," specifies the same source. And to add that an investment commission on infrastructure will soon see the light of day, for a rational management of the planned kitty.
In addition, Morocco, which intends to further strengthen its position as the leader of the North African motorway network (1,800 km), is multiplying the achievements with, in particular, the construction of a link between Tit Mellil and Berrechid, worth 1.7 billion dirhams. The start of work on this project, located in the Greater Casablanca region, is scheduled for 2020, according to the same source.
