Morocco Unveils $250 Million ’Awrach’ Program to Create 250,000 Jobs by 2023

The national employment program "Awrach" was officially launched on Wednesday, January 12 in Rabat, by the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch. It aims to create 250,000 direct jobs in 2022 and 2023.
With a total cost of 2.5 billion dirhams, this program consists of two components. The first one concerns temporary public jobs with an average duration of about 6 months, while the second component concerns support workshops for sustainable integration.
To ensure its success, a steering mechanism has been planned at the central and regional level with a strategic committee chaired by the Head of Government.
Taking into account the precarious situation of the majority of unskilled women, the "Awrach" program is based on the gender approach to integrate this important part of society into the labor market.
In addition, "Awrach" is not the only program dedicated to promoting employment. Others will be launched by the government, including the "Forsa" program. This program in particular will mobilize 1.25 billion dirhams and will be dedicated to supporting entrepreneurship.
These programs highlight the crucial place that the government gives to the issue of employment. The government program provides for an economic growth of around 4% and the creation of one million net jobs over the next five years.
