Morocco’s Housing Aid Program Reaches 17,000 Beneficiaries, Including Expats

Nearly 17,000 people (including 44% women and 22% MREs) have already benefited from the direct housing aid program as of July 15, said Aziz Akhannouch, the Head of Government, to the House of Representatives.
The direct housing aid program has about 17,000 beneficiaries as of July 15, Aziz Akhannouch said during the monthly session of oral questions on "the policy of urbanization and housing and its impact on economic dynamics and spatial and social development", indicating that 84,500 applications have been registered on the dedicated platform. The acquired housing has a total value of 6.3 billion dirhams and the state aid amounts to 1.3 billion dirhams, he specified.
The Head of Government added that "the urban planning and housing sector has recorded positive indicators since the launch of this royal project", stressing that the number of authorized projects has increased by 16% in the first quarter of 2024. Similarly, the added value of the construction sector recorded an increase of 2.5% during the period. The same trend is observed for real estate loans (1.5%) and loans for real estate developers (3.8%).
The direct housing aid program aims to facilitate access to decent housing for low and middle-income families, said Akhannouch, arguing that this program will help boost the private sector, particularly SMEs, and create jobs. Launched in January 2024, this program "has been a great success that has exceeded expectations and has seen strong demand from Moroccans inside and outside the country," he concluded.
