The Moroccan under-17 national team has qualified for the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations in this category. The Moroccans beat South Africa 3-1 on Thursday in a match played at the El Bachir stadium in Mohammedia.
From the start of the match, the Moroccan team exerted offensive pressure. The players carried out intense attacks, an effort that was materialized by a goal from Ismaïl El Aoud in the 13th minute of play, giving Morocco the advantage.
After conceding this goal, South Africa reacted by developing several offensives. The South African team was dangerous at times, but the Moroccan defense and their goalkeeper prevented the equalizer before half-time. The first half thus ended with a score of 1-0.
In the second half, the Moroccan team sought to score a second goal to consolidate their lead. However, it was South Africa who scored, with Neo Bohloko equalizing for his team in the 54th minute (1-1).
Following this South African equalizer, the Moroccan team reacted quickly. Ziyad Baha scored two goals in the space of a few minutes, first in the 61st and then in the 62nd minute, thus bringing the score to 3-1 in favor of Morocco.
The score remained unchanged until the end of regulation time. This victory allows Morocco to reach the semi-finals of the continental competition. In the semi-finals, the Moroccans will face the winner of the quarter-final match between Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal, scheduled for this Friday in Berrechid.
