Morocco Clinches Third CHAN Title in Thrilling 3-2 Victory over Madagascar

The Moroccan selection of local players has won the African Nations Championship (CHAN) for the third time, after their successes in 2018 and 2020. In the final of the competition, played at the stadium in Nairobi (Kenya), the Moroccans beat the Madagascar team 3-2.
Despite a start to the match where they exerted pressure on the opposing defense, the Moroccan players were surprised by Madagascar’s opening goal in the 9th minute. The Moroccan reaction came in the 27th minute, when Youssef Mehri equalized on a pass from Khalid Baba. Just before half-time, in the 44th minute, Oussama Lamlioui gave his team the lead, allowing Morocco to lead 2-1 at the break.
During the second half, while the Moroccan team seemed to be controlling the game, Madagascar managed to equalize in the 68th minute. It took until the 81st minute to see the outcome of the match. Striker Oussama Lamlioui, author of his second personal goal, gave the final victory to Morocco with a long-range shot.
With this success, the Moroccan national team now has three titles in this continental competition. The third-place match, which was held earlier, saw Senegal’s victory against Sudan on penalties (4-2), after a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time.
