Morocco Edges Tanzania to Reach African Nations Semis as Madagascar Stuns Kenya in Penalty Drama

Morocco qualified for the semi-finals of the 2024 African Nations Championship by beating Tanzania (1-0), while Madagascar validated their ticket at the expense of Kenya after the penalty shootout (1-1, 4-3 on penalties), this Friday. The table of the last four is thus beginning to take shape.
The Moroccan national team secured their place for the rest of the competition thanks to their victory over Tanzania, the host country of the match, at the Dar es Salaam stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by striker Oussama Lamlioui in the 65th minute.
This result allows the Atlas Lions to continue their journey towards a potential third title in their history. For their next match, they will face the winner of the quarter-final between Uganda and Senegal on Saturday.
In the other match of the day, Madagascar also obtained their qualification. The Malagasy team was held in check by Kenya with a score of 1-1 at the end of regulation time and extra time.
The decision was therefore made during the penalty shootout, won by the Malagasy with a score of 4 to 3. In the semi-finals, they will face the winner of the match between Algeria and Sudan, also scheduled for Saturday.
