Morocco Stuns Spain in Under-20 World Cup Opener

The Moroccan national under-20 team won their first group stage match of the 2025 World Cup, beating Spain 2-0. The match was played on Sunday, September 28 at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos stadium in Santiago, Chile.
The first half ended 0-0. The Moroccan team had several opportunities but failed to capitalize, while the Spanish selection also tried to score without success.
The goals of the match were scored in the second half. Yassir Zabiri opened the scoring for Morocco in the 54th minute. Four minutes later, in the 58th minute, Yassine Gessime scored the second goal.
In the 61st minute, the Moroccan goalkeeper made an important save. The Moroccan defense and their goalkeeper then contained the attempts of the Spanish team until the end of the match.
With this victory, Morocco gets three points and provisionally takes the lead in the group, pending the match between Mexico and Brazil. Morocco’s next matches will be against Brazil on October 2 and Mexico on October 4.
