Morocco’s U17 Soccer Team Honored by King After World Cup Qualification

During a ceremony organized at the Mohammed VI Football Complex, King Mohammed VI congratulated the Lionceaux and the staff of the national U17 team for their exceptional achievement and their qualification for the 2023 World Cup.
Even though they lost in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations against Senegal, the Lionceaux received a triumphant welcome upon their return to Morocco. They were celebrated at the Mohammed VI Football Complex. On this occasion, Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), read the message from King Mohammed VI addressed to the staff and players. In his message, the Sovereign saluted the efforts made by all the components of this promising selection, in particular the players, coaches, technicians and executives and leaders of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), for the realization of this African exploit which honors national football in all its categories, reports the MAP.
He says he is proud of their remarkable maturity and discipline, the good performance, the great competitive spirit and the deeply rooted high morals shown by the Lionceaux of the Atlas during this championship, as well as their firm determination to continue to carry the torch of Moroccan football and to confirm its influence and distinguished presence in the various continental and international events.
"The performance of the Moroccan players in Algeria shows that nothing is impossible with work, discipline and team spirit," said Said Chiba, coach of the national U17 team, welcoming the fact that the balance sheet of this participation has been positive across the board. He will insist on the need to capitalize on these results to ensure continuity of performance. The Lionceaux will participate in the 2023 World Cup.
