Morocco to Try 28 for Attempted Illegal Entry into Spanish Enclave Melilla

28 Moroccans will be tried on June 8 for "illegal immigration, disobedience and destruction of public property." The issue of migrants who want to cross the border at all costs, sometimes at the risk of their lives, has been insistently raised lately, especially with the migratory flow experienced by the cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
Fourteen of the defendants have been provisionally released after paying a bail of 2,000 dirhams (about 180 euros). Prosecuted for "illegal immigration, disobedience and destruction of public property," they will be tried on June 8, according to judicial sources at EFE.
Like Ceuta, which experienced a massive influx of more than 8,000 Moroccan migrants at the beginning of last week, 7,500 of whom have already been repatriated to Morocco, Melilla also recorded an invasion of migrants last week. More than 80 sub-Saharan Africans illegally crossed the border of Melilla between Monday and Tuesday, adds the same source, which specifies that a hundred Moroccans also tried on Wednesday to cross the Mariguari border post. They were all sent back to Morocco.
After the entry on Thursday of 70 other Moroccan migrants, the authorities of Melilla have reinforced the defense personnel ensuring border control.
