Morocco’s Tourism Set to Soar: Air Capacity Surpassing Pre-Pandemic Levels by Summer

Morocco could reach 13 million tourists by 2023, the pre-crisis figure. This is at least what a tourism sector official predicts.
Moroccan tourism is back with the reopening of Moroccan airspace. According to a reliable source in the tourism sector, the air capacity of the Transavia (40%), Ryanair (50%) and EasyJet (40%) groups should exceed the pre-crisis level by next June and will see an increase of around 50% in the number of seats compared to 2019, reports Médias24. "From next summer, the peak of arrivals will be reached, but the most important thing is that by the end of 2022 we will have an annual capacity equal to 1.5 times that of before the crisis".
In addition, Adel El Fakir, director of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) is trying to reconquer the French, English markets, etc., in order to enrich Morocco’s air network with new scheduled flights by next winter. This action leads the same source to affirm that it is more than likely that 2023 will be the year of exceeding the 2019 figures. It is convinced that Morocco should again receive 13 million tourists by the end of 2023, the figure before the Covid-19 health crisis.
